Spendl

Spendl operates the Spendl mobile application ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how Spendl handles information when you use the App.

Summary

Spendl is built with privacy in mind. Your subscription data is stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, synced to your personal iCloud account. Spendl does not operate servers that collect or store your personal subscription data.

Information Spendl does not collect

• Spendl does not require you to create an account.
• Spendl does not collect your subscription names, amounts, or renewal dates on its servers.
• Spendl does not sell your personal information to third parties.
• Spendl does not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

Information stored on your device

Spendl stores the subscription information you enter (such as names, amounts, renewal dates, categories, and notes) locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you are signed into iCloud and have iCloud sync enabled, this data may be synced to your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit service, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Information processed by third parties

• Apple App Store / StoreKit — If you purchase Spendl Pro, payment and subscription management are handled entirely by Apple. Spendl does not receive your payment card details.
• Exchange rate API — Spendl Pro's multi-currency feature fetches public exchange rates from open.er-api.com. Only currency codes are sent in these requests; no personal subscription data is included.
• Apple Push Notification Service — Renewal reminders are scheduled locally on your device. No notification content is sent to Spendl's servers.

Face ID and passcode

If you enable App Lock, authentication is handled entirely by your device's secure enclave via Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Spendl does not receive or store your biometric data.

Data retention and deletion

Your data remains on your device until you delete it within the app or uninstall Spendl. Deleting the app removes locally stored data. iCloud-synced data can be managed through your iCloud settings.

Children's privacy

Spendl is not directed at children under 13. Spendl does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

Spendl may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Spendl mobile application ("the App"). By downloading or using Spendl, you agree to these Terms.

1. Use of the App

Spendl is a subscription tracking tool designed to help you record and understand your recurring expenses. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter. Spendl does not connect to your bank accounts and does not automatically detect charges from financial institutions.

2. No financial advice

Spendl is for informational and organisational purposes only. It does not provide financial, tax, or legal advice. You should consult a qualified professional for financial decisions.

3. Spendl Pro subscription

• Spendl Pro is an auto-renewable subscription purchased through the Apple App Store.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
• Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
• Prices are subject to change. The price applicable to you is shown in the App Store at the time of purchase.

4. Free features

Core subscription tracking features are available at no cost. Spendl reserves the right to modify which features are available in the free or Pro tiers, but will not remove access to data you have already entered without reasonable notice.

5. Intellectual property

Spendl, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by Spendl and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute the App except as permitted by Apple's App Store terms.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

Spendl is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Spendl does not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that exchange rates, renewal dates, or calculations will always be accurate. You use the App at your own risk.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spendl shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Spendl, including missed renewals, incorrect totals, or reliance on information displayed in the App.

8. Apple terms

Your use of Spendl is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement and App Store Terms of Service.

9. Changes to these Terms

Spendl may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
